A large wildfire in Ocean County has impacted 500 acres of land and is threatening at least 25 structures.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says that the fire was only about 10% contained as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Route 539 is closed between Route 70 and Long Swamp Road in Manchester Township. Horicon Avenue is closed at Route 70.
Local fire departments are providing “structure protection” to keep the 25 structures from catching on fire.
News 12 New Jersey has previously reported that Tuesday’s warm and dry weather conditions were prime for wildfires to develop.
Officials have sent out warnings for residents to be careful when discarding cigarettes or any other items that produce flames.
