The FBI, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mountain Lakes Police Department are reaching out to the public for help locating a suspected bank robber.
Authorities are looking for 47-year-old Tony Winst in connection to a robbery that happened at a PNC Bank last November in Mountain Lakes. They’re offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Winst is described as bald, with tattoos on both hands, weighing roughly 200 pounds. He is 6 feet tall. Officials say he sometimes goes by the aliases Tony Miller and Tony Tailor.
The FBI says Winst went into the PNC Bank on Nov. 17, demanded money and threatened that he had a weapon. He then ran away from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and escaped into the woods nearby. No one was hurt during the robbery.
Authorities had a K-9 unit searching for him at the time, along with a drone to aid in their manhunt.
Officials say Winst has connections in Elizabeth, Newark, Manhattan, Chicago and Seattle. News 12 is also told he’s been known to use taxis to travel.
Anyone who may have information about Winst is urged to call the Newark FBI at 973-792-3000 or 1-800-CALL-FBI.
