A memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk that was being considered in Sussex County will not take place.
Skylands Stadium in Augusta was being considered as a location to hold the vigil, but officials say that it is not large enough to accommodate the large crowd that was expected.
Skylands Stadium never officially announced it was hosting an event, but when word got out that it was being considered, people started to promote it.
“Despite what others may claim, there was no ‘cancellation’ because there was never an official event,” Skylands Stadium wrote on its Facebook page.
The Facebook post also encouraged the community to find other ways to honor Kirk and to continue to spread his messages.
