Students at Rutgers University will soon be paying more for tuition plus room and board.
The Rutgers Board of Governors approved a $5.4 billion budget for the fiscal year that began July 1.
That budget will be supported by a 6% increase in tuition and fees for the 2023-2024 school year, along with a nearly 7% increase for meal plans and a 5% increase for housing.
Tuition will increase by about $387 per student, from $6,450 per semester to $6,837.
Officials say that the increases are due to rising costs that the university faces, general inflation and an increase in salaries and wages and employee benefits.
