A Roseland man has admitted to selling counterfeit military equipment during multiyear schemes to defraud the U.S. Department of Defense, according to officials.
Authorities say 75-year-old Alan Aranowitz pleaded guilty to those schemes, one of which ran from 2015 to 2018.
Federal prosecutors say he defrauded the DOD by substituting military parts for cheaper versions that were not authorized under the governing contracts.
Another scheme involved his company, Arlo, conspiring with another DOD contractor to rig bids.
Authorities say Aranowitz is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
