The Bergen County Sheriff's Office says an apparent threat that prompted an evacuation at a movie theater was unfounded.
Police responded in force to the Edgewater Multiplex Cinemas Saturday night. Witnesses took to social media to describe a frightening scene that included people screaming and running from the theater.
According to witnesses, the scare apparently stemmed from a fight that broke out during the newly released "Hunger Games" movie.
"That happened inside the movie theater, during the 'Mockingjay: Part 2' movie," witness Kevin Yepe said of the fist fight. "People were throwing chairs at each other and people were screaming, and somebody screamed bomb, and people were running outside."
Investigators say moviegoers alerted a security guard about something that disturbed them, prompting police to respond.
