Students at a Newark school were evacuated Thursday due to a fire.

Officials say the fire was at the 13th Avenue Elementary School. They say the fire started in one of the electrical panels in the boiler room around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Students and staff were relocated to the Michele Obama Elementary School, West Side High School and John F. Kennedy School for the day. All after school activities were canceled.

Police say one person was taken to the hospital after reporting that he received a shock from the electrical panel.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
