A woman was injured after jumping from the third floor of a burning multifamily home in Elizabeth on Sunday morning, according to city officials.
The Elizabeth Fire Department responded to the three-alarm fire at 470 Jefferson Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
Officials said the 50-year-old woman suffered a broken bone after jumping from the third floor. She was taken to University Hospital and later transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital for further treatment.
The burning home sits between a five-story apartment building and another large multifamily residence. Officials said the fire caused exterior damage to the neighboring multifamily home.
The fire was brought under control and remains under investigation.
