Officials say the body of an Ocean County man was found washed up along the shores of Long Beach Island.
Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, says a Beach Haven resident walking along Brant Beach between 78th and 79th streets discovered the body floating in the surf around 6:43 a.m. Tuesday.
Della Fave says responding officers found the man with no signs of trauma. Police say no foul play is suspect and they believe the man took his own life.
The man was identified as 59-year-old John Creevy, of Barnegat.
Della Fave says Creevy, who lives alone, was not reported missing.
The medical examiner ruled that the body was in the water for at least eight hours before it was discovered.
