Officers rein in runaway horses in Montville
Officers and local farm workers helped get the animals back home.

It was not the type of pursuit they are used to, but Montville police officers were called to corral a group of horses that got loose in town.
Police responded to find at least four horses wandering through a neighborhood and onto residential properties in the Morris County community.
“From being a police officer to a rancher within moments, our well-rounded officers know how to handle any situation,” the police department wrote on social media over the weekend.
The responding officers were not horsing around in their efforts to return the animals home. Police called for reinforcements, getting help from two workers at Chestnut Street, an equestrian facility in town.
The loose horses were eventually rounded up and returned home. Police have not said who owns the horses or which farm they escaped from.
