A Middle Township police officer seriously injured after being struck during a traffic stop has undergone another surgery and remains in stable condition, according to the police union.
Authorities say Officer Austin Kapurelos was hit on Route 47 near Wildwood last Friday. Investigators allege the driver who struck him was drunk.
The police union said Kapurelos faces a long recovery and recently underwent another surgery.
Union officials also said he is the fifth New Jersey law enforcement officer to suffer serious injuries in a similar crash over the past month.
