A police officer from Camden County hailed as a hero just last week for a dramatic rescue caught on body camera is now in intensive care following a separate accident.
According to the New Jersey Honor Legion, Officer Joseph Mairwas was hit by a cab driver -- fleeing from another accident Friday.
Mairwas was one of four officers who last week helped pull four victims from a burning car.
The victims’ cars crashed and caught on fire.
All suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
