Prosecutors say Torres and another suspect planned the assault, during which Torres allegedly used a gun provided by his accomplice.

An off-duty Paterson police officer, Valentin Torres, 33, faces weapons and assault charges for allegedly using a stolen gun in a bar assault that left the victim with knocked-out teeth.
The incident occurred Aug. 23 at Mancora Lounge on 91 Prospect St. in Paterson. Prosecutors say Torres and another suspect planned the assault, during which Torres allegedly used a gun provided by his accomplice.
Torres was arrested nearby for driving while intoxicated. Officers found the stolen gun in his vehicle.
Both Torres and the unidentified suspect face weapons and assault charges.
