Off-duty transit officer's husband appears in court after fatal Bronx stabbing

The NYPD says off-duty transit officer Arianna Reyes-Gomez was stabbed to death in her apartment early Monday morning.

Argenis Baez was arraigned on charges, including murder, in connection to the fatal stabbing of off-duty transit officer Arianna Reyes-Gomez, 31. The incident took place Monday morning.
The 33-year-old suspect was seen in handcuffs at the 44th Precinct Monday after turning himself in to police.
The prosecutor revealed that Reyes-Gomez was stabbed eight times in her legs, breast, torso and back.
Footage showed a struggle between Baez and Reyes-Gomez that lasted two minutes before they entered her apartment Monday morning. The footage then shows Baez walking out of the apartment alone with a knife in hand.
Officers found the transit officer dead in her apartment with multiple stab wounds around 3 a.m. Reyes-Gomez leaves behind a 3-year-old child.
The prosecutor says Baez confessed about the killing to his aunt, and the aunt’s son dialed 911. The defense attorney went on to say that Baez did express remorse.
Baez is set to appear in court again on Friday to face a grand jury, with a possible life prison sentence if found guilty.
The NYPD says there was a total of 2,822 reported domestic violence cases across the city from July 1, 2020 to the end of last year.
