An Ocean Township woman has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a West Long Branch man who prosecutors say was struck by her vehicle before she fled the scene.

Rena Cain, 53, is charged with murder, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and hindering, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Police responded to a home on Wall Street at about 10 p.m. on April 28 after receiving reports of an injured person. Officers found Adriano Catano, 46, unresponsive on the front lawn of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation determined that Catano had been struck by Cain's vehicle before she left the area, prosecutors said.
