Ocean Seafood Depot in Newark has been targeted for an immigration raid by ICE for a second time this year.

The business along Adams Street was surrounded Wednesday morning by 30 armed agents from ICE and the FBI.

News 12 is still waiting for ICE to confirm how many employees were detained and why the seafood market was targeted for a second raid.

Three employees were taken into custody when the same business was raided in January.

The workers who were released watched from across the street. None of the employees looking on wanted to speak about their colleagues who were being questioned about their legal status.

They were joined on the sidewalk by immigration rights activists, who were unhappy to see the raid taking place.

“Why are these federal FBI Homeland Security and ICE agents here on our streets doing this,” said Terri Seuss, with Eyes on ICE.

By 12:30 p.m., work by agents inside of the market had finished and masked agents climbed into a van and left the neighborhood.

Employees with Ocean Seafood Depot were allowed back inside to work.
