The NYPD is warning the public about an ATM scam that could have you losing your savings.
According to police, card readers are showing up on ATMs and "skimming," or electronically stealing, bank account information from a card's magnetic strip. Scammers are also putting similar devices on bank lobby doors.
Hidden cameras are also being used to record people punching in their PIN numbers. They say ATM users should always block the keypad with their other hand as an extra precaution.
Authorities are urging everyone to keep an eye out for the skimmers or anything else that looks suspicious on an ATM, including cracks, residue or tape.
