The Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center announced its plan Wednesday to close its last remaining departments in the fall.

Nurses and patients shared their outrage since they say they were initially told the hospital would keep a stand-alone emergency department and acute rehab unit. In July, they heard that center would close as well, forcing them to relocate to other hospitals in the network.

One doctor said the number of emergency response patients has declined by more than half since the pandemic and that closing the remaining departments would save tens of thousands of dollars.
