New information from both state and federal agencies shows that car and pedestrian fatalities were higher in New Jersey in 2005.
A recent survey conducted by the Tri-State Transportation Campaign found both Hudson and Sussex counties ranked high in auto-related fatalities. In Hudson County, pedestrian deaths were nearly 38 percent of all traffic fatalities in the past five years. Sussex County topped the list for speeding and reckless driving deaths. In total, the survey found New Jersey?s traffic fatalities up 5 percent.
The group that conducted the survey would like to see an aggressive campaign to enforce traffic laws.
