A winter storm is coming to New Jersey on Friday, and northern New Jersey will take the brunt of the icy condition.
Thursday saw on and off rain, with temperatures in the 40s. There was dense fog in areas all over the state.
But temperatures will be dropping on Friday, and the change-over could make for dangerous road conditions.
Skyline Drive in northern New Jersey is a heavily-traveled road. It is a narrow and busy roadway, with tight turns that are not easy to navigate when the conditions are slick. This is especially true when traveling downhill.
The road, and many like it, could become a serious hazard as the temperatures cool overnight.
Several school districts in northern New Jersey have already made the decision to close on Friday or have delayed openings so that school buses are not traveling on the icy pavement. Among them are Mount Arlington, Roxbury and Rockaway.
New Jersey residents may want to reconsider the Friday morning commute because black ice could be a serious issue. It may be better to work from home if possible.
