Amazon is making its supermarket debut in New Jersey with the opening of its Amazon Fresh store.
The grocery store is located on Route 17 in Paramus.
The 50,000-square-foot store offers “just walk out” shopping – a feature that lets customers avoid checkout lines. They are charged once they leave the store.
"Essentially you get the Amazon app pulled up with the QR code. You scan it at the gate, you do your shopping, and once you’re done shopping, you go to the exit gate, scan the app and you just walk out,” says district manager Emad El-Mubasher.
New Jersey is expected to get an additional three Amazon Fresh stores, which will be located in Woodland Park, Eatontown and Holmdel.
