New Jersey is full of highways, and some are a smoother drive than others. News 12 ran a poll in August asking followers their least favorite roads to drive in New Jersey.
Coming in at No. 5 - Interstate 80.
Repeated sinkholes along I-80 in Wharton caused 6 months of traffic headache earlier this year. The highway has other challenges, too. There's a whole Facebook group with 111,000 members dedicated solely to the horrors of driving this road. It's called the "
Route 80 Rant."
Drivers interviewed by News 12 mentioned consistent traffic and truck volume among their frustrations with driving I-80. The highway runs from New Jersey all the way to California.
There's only one
financial toll on I-80 in New Jersey, when taking the Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge into Pennsylvania. But drivers are faced with a different kind of toll when riding I-80 - a mental toll - which is why it came in at number 5 on the voted list of New Jersey's least favorite roadways.
