A Tenafly-based volunteer group is transporting dozens of dogs and cats from storm-ravaged regions in Texas.
The first transport by Pet ResQ, Inc. was expected to arrive in Oakland Sunday evening.
About 41 dogs and cats will be taken in by volunteer shelters and foster families, and then New Jersey families will be able to adopt them.
All of the animals have already been vetted, vaccinated and tested for illness.
Pet ResQ expects three more transports during the week.
