Six New Jersey counties have been asked to conserve water use due to drought conditions. However, there are places that thrive during a drought.
Although Hunterdon County is one of the counties where residents are being asked to conserve water, that doesn't affect the vineyard Old York Cellars, in Ringoes.
Vineyards actually thrive in drought conditions.
"We have roots that go down into clay soil, and so there's enough moisture to keep enough of the vines going," says Old York Cellars' David Wolin. "Vines are tough to grow in New Jersey, but when we have a drought like this like we had in 2010, it's really good for the grapes and we're expecting a great harvest."
Right now, more than 10% of the state is experiencing drought conditions.
