Frustrations mounting for people who rely on NJ Transit trains this morning. Delays have caused a major headache for commuters and now they are bracing for how trains will be running in today's heat.
It's certainly been a rough ride for most commuters this summer. Today, however, was smooth sailing at Edison Train Station.
That was not the case for riders who got home late last night from New York Penn Station. Trains were delayed due to track maintenance. This comes just one day after power issues caused disruptions in and out of Hoboken terminal.
This week's fare holiday was aimed at being a thank you to riders, who have put up with major transit disruptions throughout the summer season.
We spoke with some riders who commute out of Edison to New York each day. "Early in the morning it's not so bad, but as it gets later in the day rush hour, it's hit or miss," said Jay.
"Trains are not always on time especially getting to New York. Heat doesn't affect commuters were used to that. Reliable service is more important," he said. "We got a fare holiday a little gift from the Governor thanking us for riding with all the frustrations all along," said Chris.
"Fortunately for me, from here it's usually pretty good coming back sometimes from NY you have problems, trains were delayed 20-30 minute,” he said.
All fares on buses and trains are waived through Labor Day. If you’re a monthly pass holder , you will automatically receive a 25% discount on your September monthly pass purchase, through the mobile app.
