More than 16,600 cases of COVID-19 were reported Saturday in the state of New Jersey, the largest number of daily cases to date.
It’s also the third consecutive day of a number higher than 15,000. The high numbers could be due to the large number of people getting tested before Christmas.
According to state data, 2,375 people were hospitalized as of Friday night. It's the fifth day in a row that number has been over 2,000 and the most since April. There were six more deaths attributable to the virus.
