Those making a trip to a Motor Vehicle Commission office can now leave their cash and checkbooks at home.
All 44 MVC agencies throughout the Garden State will now accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Many customers say it is about time the MVC joined the 21st century. Even the head of the state MVC, Sharon Harrington, said the use of credit cards at MVC centers is long overdue.
?Here we are in the 21st century, when we can use credit cards at the WaWa, McDonald?s and any retail place, but the place we all have to go at least once every four years, you need a check or cash,? Harrington said.
The use of credit cards at the centers is part of an effort over the past four years to make experiences at the MVC a little easier. The centers have added Saturday hours, more service windows and services online. Seventy forms are now available on the MVC Web site where people can also renew their registration.
