The Department of Transportation (DOT) commissioner answered some complaints about the conditions of the state's roadways Thursday by taking responsibility for the problems.
Kris Kolluri, DOT commissioner, admitted the more than 1,000 accidents and spinouts during the storm were unacceptable. He said he is accountable for the condition of the roads, but adds the storm did present challenges.
News 12 New Jersey received calls from a number of unhappy residents who believed the state failed to do a good job. However, Kolluri says the state spent the money by having workers spread 27,000 tons of salt and drop 216,000 gallons of liquid chlorine on the roads.
Kolluri says the state will continue to focus on keeping roads safe, secure and passable. He says the DOT's goal has not and will not change.
