NJ considers overhauling keno-like game under new bill
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey lawmakers are considering legislation that would overhaul how the lottery's new Quick Draw game is conducted.
The Democrat-led Assembly gaming committee heard testimony Thursday on the legislation that would reduce the keno-like game's drawings from every five minutes to just twice daily.
Just two people testified on the measure. Bob Marshall, with the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, supports the bill and the says the game essentially expands casino-style gaming.
Diane Weiss, executive director of the New Jersey Licensed Beverage Association, opposed the bill and says the game has been good for vendors she represents.
The lottery unveiled Quick Draw last year to bolster struggling revenues and said it would net about $20 million in the fiscal year ending June 30. It has netted nearly $5 million through December.
