NJ cities host gun buyback events in effort to reduce violence

Several cities in New Jersey teamed up to host simultaneous gun buyback events Saturday.

Several cities in New Jersey teamed up to host simultaneous gun buyback events Saturday.
East Orange, Newark, Paterson and Atlantic City participated. At the New Vision Full Gospel Baptist Church in East Orange, over 100 guns were turned in.
It's is an initiative by the acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck to reduce gun violence.
Police officers were on-hand for the tradeoff.
President Joe Biden recently called the increase in gun violence in the U.S. an "epidemic" and a "public health issue." He vowed to support community violence intervention programs.
Officials in East Orange say crime is trending downward mainly because of fewer crimes involving guns.
