Nine people were arrested by Suffolk police late Friday night after a planned street takeover in East Farmingdale was shut down by police.

Authorities say that through their intelligence and social media monitoring, the Street Takeover Task Force learned of a planned takeover and illegal street race event in the Plainview and East Farmingdale areas.

Officers responded to Central Avenue and stopped the race after seeing numerous vehicles had allegedly closed down the roadway to drive recklessly, do stunts, donuts and burnous in the roadway around 11:40 p.m.

Twelve vehicles were seized and impounded. The nine suspects involved were issued a total of 46 tickets.

Those arrested were Logan Woodwiss, 23, Devanny Alvarezcanela, 20, and Maher Jaghab, 21, all of Merrick; Christopher Sosa, 31, of Queens; Joseph Miller, 18, of Deer Park; Davon Chavesmariano, 26, of Brentwood; Justin Jadunandan, 20, of Queens; Dale Richardson, 30, of Uniondale; and Brian Fortune, 22, of West Islip.

Police say they are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
