Well, with the help of our partners and sponsors, News 12 is continuing to get you ready for another school year. It's our 5th annual Backpack giveaway. If you're out there, we're hoping to see you. Let's check back in with News 12's Morgan Scott, who joins us from outside the King's Theater. Now our 5th annual backpack giveaway is still happening here. You can hear the DJ blasting the music for the kids to enjoy. I'm actually here with one of the parents who was able to take advantage of the backpack giveaway, and you tell me you've been here since 8:30 this morning. Tell me a little bit about that weight and the importance of coming out here. Sure. Hi, um, yeah, definitely. We came here. At 8:30 in the morning hoping to beat like the line, uh, this is our first year here and um we were just talking to everybody within the line just uh talking about like how exciting it is to be here but also to like actually save some money on the school supplies. I think it's wonderful that they're doing this because it does help a little bit with um you know, I guess the finances for a little bit. a little bit longer and you can actually see it, yeah, but no, this is a wonderful event. This is the first time I come here and I'm glad I came at 8:30 because the line wrapped around all the way around. So yeah, so we're really excited. We know that there's gonna be 800 backpacks that are. Actually gonna be giving away here and so we're excited for the kids to get back to school, be prepared as you said, and to help out some of these families. A big thanks again to Optimum and Warner Bros Discovery, our partners and all the community organizations out here. Are you excited to go back to school? Yes, OK. Morgan Scott, Newswell Brooklyn. Switching gears now back to school season is here and with the help of our partners and sponsors. News 12 is getting families ready. News 12's Morgan Scott joins us from our 5th annual Backpack giveaway at the King's Theater where the lines as you see were wrapped around the block. We are here at our 5th annual backpack giveaway right to the side of me. We see our news 12:10, some of our anchors Amanda and Nadia working hard to make sure those kids have the supplies we need. We also have a list of our other sponsors like Optimum. We're working with Warner Bros Discovery and a lot of community partners, those kids filled up those lines around the block excited to. Start the school year off the right way. One of our community organizations right here actually, the Church Flatbush Community Alliance. I'm here with Lauren. Lauren, tell me a little bit about the importance of today and your involvement in what we're doing here. Sure, sure. So I'm with the Church Flatbush Community Alliance. We help the businesses but also the community of Flatbush. This event is so important. We've been doing it for 5 or 6 years now and now News 12 is. Partnering anthem, a bunch of sponsors, we're giving away, I think 800 book bags, and there are a lot of kids who need them, so we're just really excited to have people here from the community. Got you. And this isn't obviously said this isn't the first time you're participating, this isn't the first one. What's kind of the feedback you get from these families every year when we are continuing to kind of help them up and again get prepared for the school year? Everybody is we start getting emails. Many, many weeks in advance before this, so people know it's coming. They look forward to it. I think they've been here since 6 a.m. and it's just been such a great event, so it's just really exciting to do it every year. Very exciting. We are extremely excited to have the parents here, the kids here. They're all excited despite the sun, they're ready to go into school prepared. Morgan Scott, News 12 Brooklyn. looks fun, Morgan.
