Newark elementary school students had a fun day at the Prudential Center, thanks to a team-up with the New Jersey Devils.
The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program partnered with the NHL team for a STEM Day. Students participated in hands-on activities that helped them learn how science, technology, engineering, and math work in hockey.
"Some of the things we are showing the students [are] the science of the slapshot – the angles, the friction - but also showing them what advanced manufacturing looks like that makes all of this possible,” says Michael Womack, director of marketing and communications. “This entire stadium, the entire game, so we are showing them - wielding equipment, the mobile training lab…”
This is the first time they have hosted the event since 2019. Organizers say they hope to do more in the future.
