Newark police are asking for the public’s help identifying a woman accused of stealing a package from a home Sunday afternoon.

Public Safety director Emanuel Miranda Sr. said the theft happened around 2:44 p.m. on May 3 at a home in the 40 block of Smith Street.

Police say surveillance video captured the woman removing a package from the steps of the home, placing it in a black bag and fleeing south on Smith Street.

The woman was described as having a light complexion and wearing black sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt with pink bunnies on the back and black sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Newark police’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
