The Newark Police Department says officers have given out 800 verbal warnings to people violating shelter-in-place orders over the past three days.
The policy went into effect earlier this week, requiring people to stay home, aside from essential reasons. Police say they will continue to strictly enforce the policy.
Mayor Ras Baraka says he plans to lock the city down on Monday but didn't elaborate.
