A man said his clothes were stolen from a dryer at a laundromat in Newark earlier this month, and when workers refused to compensate him, he robbed the cash register, according to officials.
They say a man demanded money from workers around 12:30 p.m. on March 9 at the laundromat in the 100 block of Avon Avenue after saying his clothes were taken.
When employees refused to give money to the man, officials say he went behind the shop’s counter and took $400 from a cash register. They say the man then fled the scene in a light-colored Jeep Cherokee.
Officials say they are seeking the public's help to identify the suspect. He is described as a Black male, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 150 pounds. They say he was wearing a black sweater, black pants, and white and green sneakers.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
