A Newark police officer was busted Wednesday in connection with an alleged heroin and money laundering ring involving at least two others.
Drug Enforcement Agency agents arrested Newark Police Officer Michelle Davis, along with Rasheem Small, of Newark and Abdullah Myers, a so-called five-star general in the Bloods gang.
Davis was charged with money laundering.
The agents seized luxury cars, expensive motorcycles, computer equipment and cash. As part of their three-year investigation, DEA agents followed the money and the business side of the drug-dealing ring.
DEA officials say the organization started shell businesses whose sole purpose was to launder drug money.
The DEA estimates the organization moved 2,000 bricks of heroin a week, making approximately $7 million a year. Agents are still searching for four other men involved in the drug ring.
