New Yorkers take to Washington Square Park after Roe v. Wade overturned

While elected officials have made sure to inform New Yorkers that abortion will remain legal in New York, city residents gathered in Washington Square Park to speak out against the United States Supreme Court vote that overturned Roe v. Wade.
A pile of roses was placed at the rally location, with a sign that reads "68,000 women die per year from unsafe 'illegal abortions.'"
Thirteen states have initiated “trigger bans” that will start taking effect immediately. Louisiana and Kentucky are the first two states to ban abortion after the Supreme Court ruling.
Gov. Kathy Hochul says she is compelled to respond and make abortion accessible to those who live in states where they cannot get one.
