A new program is trying to attract businesses to Westchester Square.
The program kicked off over a month ago, and through New York City's Department of Small Business Services, a consultant has been trying to pair up retailers with building owners who are looking to lease out.
"National Diner" will occupy one of the currently empty storefronts. The building has been empty for five years, and after a fire destroyed the original business, the owner has been looking for somewhere new to call home. He says he is hopeful of the push for new business in the area due to easy access to public transportation.
News 12 The Bronx has also learned that a McDonald's will be built in place of a former rehabilitation center in Westchester Square.
