Gov. Ned Lamont Connecticut signed a bill into law Monday morning aimed at protecting vaccine access by countering the Trump administration's change to the vaccine schedule.

Connecticut's vaccine standards are now independent from federal guidelines.

Lamont says the law allows vaccines to be available and affordable in the state.

The new law ensures pharmacists can administer vaccines and all state regulated individual and group insurance plans will continue covering their costs.

The bill also establishes a voluntary adult flu vaccine pilot program to help uninsured or underinsured patients get flu vaccines for free.
