New Jersey’s Revolutionary War historic sites will be getting a makeover.
Money from the American Rescue Plan will be used to help restore 10 sites across the state – including Washington Crossing State Park.
The sites will be brought up to the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act and will solidify New Jersey’s Revolutionary War contributions throughout American history.
The $25 million projects are expected to be done by 2026 – just in time for the nation’s 250th anniversary.
"Having Rev War sites that are ready and able to receive visitors from across the state, country and across the world is an essential ingredient to New Jersey taking its rightful place as a cornerstone of our nation's founding story,” says Carrie Fellows, of Crossroads of the American Revolution.
About 6% of all tourism revenue in New Jersey comes from people visiting state heritage sites. This brings hundreds of millions of dollars into the state economy each year.
