New Jersey’s paid family leave program may soon be expanded, meaning more paid time off when caring for a newborn or an ill family member.
A bill to expand the program is awaiting Gov. Phil Murphy’s signature.
As of now, new parents or caregivers can receive up to six weeks of benefits, capped at $633 a week.
The new bill would increase the eligibility period to 12 weeks and raise the cap up to $859.
