New Jersey lost its oldest living resident earlier this year when Edith Rose of Maplewood died at 111.
It is not clear who holds the title currently, but News 12 New Jersey spent some time with Anne Zando who just celebrated her 108th birthday.
Zando was born in Switzerland on July 26, 1914.
“Take what comes and make the most of it,” she says.
“She celebrated her birthday at Somerset Woods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Somerset with her three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Zando worked in embroidery in Hudson County, as a waitress at Swiss Chalet in Rochelle Park and many other jobs.
She says her secret to longevity is to keep working, walk a lot and to sing a lot. Zando once loved singing, but now enjoys listening to music.
She says she is also looking forward to another season watching her beloved New York Giants. Her prediction for this year?
“Not too well. Hopefully every year it gets better,” she says.
