A better quality of life is coming for New Jersey residents.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer announced more than $7 million in new federal investments to support local water infrastructure in an effort to prevent flooding and improve water quality for households across North Jersey.

Gottheimer says that nearly 100,000 homes in the northern part of the state have an 80% chance of flood damage in the next 30 years.

"In Cresskill, we clawed back from Washington almost $1 million to improve flood protection...including targeting drainage improvements, rover bank stabilization,” the congressman said. “These will help us manage heavy rainfall and overflow and minimize the cost of impact of recurring flood events, delivering peace of mind for residents and small businesses."

Over $1 million of the funding will go to the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority to help protect clean drinking water for residents.
