The new year will start off a bit better for some New Jersey residents as the state minimum wage increases by $1.13 to $14.13 per hour.
The move continues the state’s path to $15 per hour minimum wage that started in 2019.
“By continuing our path to a $15/hour minimum wage, we are building a stronger and fairer economy that works for every family, beginning with supporting our middle class,” Gov. Phil Murphy wrote on Twitter.
New Jersey is expected to have $15 per hour minimum wage by 2024.
The federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour has not changed in almost 15 years.
