A 29-year-old man was convicted of murder in Beverly City, Burlington County, after bludgeoning a man to death with a baseball bat, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Larry Brown beat 34-year-old Cecilio Luciano, of Highland Park, to death inside his home on Bentley Avenue in June 2022. They say Brown then barricaded himself inside the house with a woman and four children inside.
This prompted an hourslong negotiation between state police and Brown before he let the woman and children go, according to officials. He was later arrested.
Brown was found guilty of murder, kidnapping, making terroristic threats and weapons charges.
His sentencing is scheduled for May 10 in Mount Holly.
