A snowy, icy winter storm is headed for New Jersey, which means that many people will have to shovel their driveways at some point this weekend.
Shoveling snow can be a lot of work, particularly for the elderly or those with a disability. Luckily there’s an app for that.
“
Plowz and Mowz” has contractors throughout New Jersey waiting for an alert that a resident needs their driveway plowed. Users sign up and then use the app when they need their driveways cleared or cars dug out from the snow.
This is the first year that plow driver Ron Gurgeson has contracted with the company.
“Normally whenever you do contract work for people, you’ve got to do it on a trust basis…sometimes they won’t pay you,” he says. “This app, they pay the app before you go, then when you do a job…the app pays you.”
Gurgeson says that through the app he will plow driveways, put salt on sidewalks and help dig out cars.
The service is also offered during non-winter months to help with landscaping.
