Something unexpected was seen in the sky during one of News 12 New Jersey's newscasts Friday morning.
In the video, an object appears to move across the skyline. News 12's Newark camera captured the scene at 7:18 a.m. Friday morning.
The camera faces east of Bridge St in Newark. The New York City skyline can be seen in the distance.
There is even more of an interest in the state's skies following recent
drone sightings.
News 12 reached out to government agencies and local law enforcement to find out more.
The FAA told News 12 that it did not have any reports.
NASA experts offered their opinions on the footage.
"From this clip, this does not appear to be a meteor or reentry," said NASA spokesperson Michelle Handleman.
Handleman added the flight path is kind of curvy, and said the path could be suggestive of a bird or bug closer by.
On the local side, Secaucus Police Department, Hoboken Police Department and Newark Department of Public Safety were not aware of any objects or reports Friday.
