A Camden man?s quick action and concern helped save the life of a teenager thousands of miles away.
Jesse Coltrain, 21, was befriended by an 18-year-old from Sacramento, California through MySpace last month. The Californian began to scare Coltrain Tuesday when talk turned to suicide. After an hour of messaging back and forth with the troubled teen, Coltrain convinced him to turn on a Web cam.
?He said ?If I cut here would I bleed to death ? what would happen to me??? says Coltrain. ?I completely froze.?
A worried Coltrain contacted Sacramento police to alert them to the ordeal. Officers were able to respond to the scene and step in before the young man was able to hurt himself.
The 18-year-old is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation. Coltrain says he hopes his Internet friend isn?t angry with him and hopes to hear from him when he gets out of custody.
