Police are on the scene of a shooting investigation in Paterson near Rosa Parks Boulevard and Godwin Avenue.
Local officials say seven people were shot. Six victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, while another person reportedly left the scene on their own.
There is no immediate word on the victims’ conditions as of Sunday night.
A witness told News 12 that he heard at least 12 gunshots and people screaming around 8 p.m. He said the scene was "chaotic" immediately after.
This was the second mass shooting that happened in a New Jersey community in less than a month. There was the one at the Chick-fil-A in Union Township on April 11.
